Connect an agent

  1. Open claude.ai → Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Paste the URL below. Sign in now and Register automatically both show as “Detected” — leave them alone and press Add.
  3. Press Connect, sign in to VidHero, and approve the access you are shown. The tools appear in every chat.

search_toolsSearch video effects

Search VidHero's photo-to-video tools — ~160 hand-built flagship tools (category "Featured", listed first) and 10,000+ catalog effects — by keyword and/or category. Returns each match's slug (pass it to get_tool / create_video), name, one-line description, category, aspect ratio and page URL; featured results also say how many photos (1 or 2) and credits they need. With no query it returns the categories and how many tools each has.

Everything about one tool: what the clip shows, which photos it needs (one, or two for hug/kiss/couple-style tools), its scene ideas (pass one as `scene` to create_video), aspect ratio, credit cost and length (about 6 s). Call this before create_video.

create_videoCreate a video from a photo

Generate a ~6-second video with one tool from a photo (two photos for two-person tools). Costs 3-5 credits depending on the tool. Returns a jobId immediately; the video renders in the background in about 60–120 seconds — poll get_video. imageUrl must be a public http(s) link to the image file itself (JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC, up to 15 MB); private, login-only or non-image links are refused with the reason. A clear, well-lit photo with the subject in focus works best.

get_videoGet a video's status

Status of a video started with create_video: "queued", "processing", "completed" (with videoUrl, an MP4) or "failed" (with the reason; failed generations are not charged). Job ids are kept for 2 hours — after that use list_videos.

list_videosList my videos

The account's most recent videos across every tool, newest first, with status, tool, scene text and video URL.

The signed-in account's plan and remaining video credits (each video costs 5).

Apps you connected and keys you created. Removing a row cuts its access immediately. Keys are shown once — we store only a hash.

If something goes wrong

Do I need an API key?

Not for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Desktop — they sign you in through your browser and handle the credential themselves. A key is only for clients with no browser to sign in from, like n8n, curl or a script.

Claude says “No sign-in” instead of “Detected”.

It is reading the wrong address. Check the URL ends in /api/mcp — this /mcp page is documentation, not the endpoint.

It connected, but no tools appear.

Claude Desktop only reads its config at startup — quit it completely and reopen it. In Cursor, refresh the server from Settings → MCP.

How do I give it my photo?

Paste a public link to the image file (JPG, PNG or WebP). An assistant cannot upload a file from your computer through MCP — for that, use the tool's page on vidhero.app.

Does an agent spend my credits?

Yes — it acts as you. Every video costs 5 credits and shows up in your account like any other. Searching, checking status and listing videos are free.

How do I disconnect it?

Remove the row under API keys & connections below. Connected apps and hand-made keys live in the same list, and removing either cuts access instantly.
